Collect what you need before the electricity goes out. If you lose water with electricity as we do, hook up a small, clean hose to the hot water heater for water during a power outage.

In the morning, put the coffee grounds in the screen tea ball.
Fill kettle with cold water.
Drop the tea ball into the water.
Set tea kettle directly on the top of a kerosene or wood stove until it starts to steam.
Pour the first cups.
Set the trivet on the stove.
Set the teakettle on the trivit to keep coffee hot.
